The Lucerne Festival was established in 1938, when Arturo Toscanini conducted a memorable Concert de Gala in front of Richard Wagner‘s former residence on Tribschen. Since 2003, Lucerne Festival once again has its own orchestra thanks to the Lucerne Festival Orchestra established and conducted by Claudio Abbado. Over 100,000 visitors come to Lucerne every year to see the events. The festival has become one of the most important festivals in Switzerland and is recognized internationally. A member of the EFA since 1952.
